Vox Concordia, the newest group on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, is a group of select singers committed to keeping the arts alive with music from all styles and time periods. We champion lesser known and living composers. The group rehearses weekly and prepares two programs annually.
Participation is by audition or invitation. We are a dedicated group, with interests and backgrounds as diverse as the repertoire we sing. Together, we seek to make meaningful music as one.
The date of our fall concert, Winter Reflections, is Sunday, December 8, 4:00 pm, at the Great Hall at Salisbury University. Winter Reflections explores the celebrations and spiritual reflections of the winter and holiday season through the ages. The program includes Spanish and South American seasonal pieces as an homage to Salisbury University’s Latinidad cultural theme. The music spans centuries and cultures, from Renaissance to current day, and several languages including Latin, Spanish, English, and a little German.
Stylistically, this program represents madrigals, English ballads, traditional Puerto Rican & Catalonian carols, contemporary settings of poetry by Robert Frost & James Agee, and more. Represented composers and arrangers include Morten Lauridsen, John Rutter, Larry Nickel, Ron & Carol Harris, Ed Henderson, Joey Hoelscher, Michael Praetorius, and Jan Vodnansky.
Tickets are available through the University's Performing Arts Box Office at: https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?show=249240
Programs are made possible, in part, by a grant from the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council, awarded by the Maryland State Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, and by a grant from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.
